"DEVASTATING EARTHQUAKE HIT HAITI"

Hi everyone,

I want to wish well to everyone's family in Haiti. We at HAPA hope and pray that all are safe and sound.
In the face of a tragedy of such dimension, it goes without saying that our community in the New York Metro is probably already seeking mental health or will, in no time, be asking for help. I am suggesting that those of you who have a private practice or work at a clinic to make your telephone numbers available to those in need of a Creole or French speaking Psychiatrist.
If you so desire, you may forward your info to Dr. Pierre Jean-Noel at pjeannoel@aol.com so he could publish your office number on the HAPA's website.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Marc Vital-Herne, MD
HAPA President

                                             PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

                                       HAPA 5th ANNUAL GALA PARTY

                                                        June 20, 2009

My dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of the HAPA Executive Committee I would to welcome all of you to our 5th Annual Gala Party.

The Haitian American Psychiatric Association has been in existence for 25 successful years. Our goals have always been the mental health education and services to the Haitian and minority Communities.

I became the President of the Association last January, as the newly elected President I want to thank those who voted for me. It is a great honor and privilege to serve. Thank you for this opportunity.

With the commitment and enthusiasm of my Executive Committee, I intend to continue with what has been established by the previous administrations. And now, combining the invaluable experience of our involved elders / predecessors and the bright ideas of the new comers, I would like to bring HAPA to par with other mental health associations in the delivery of services to the minorities and the underserved.

It is our hope that HAPA will continue to grow in membership and resources. And I am confident that with the passion to serve that emanates from all of us here tonight, we will reach and even exceed our projected goals.

Once again, thank you for your Commitment and Support.

Marc Vital-Herne, M.D

President.
